Hello, we are a software developer and we have currently a free i.e. discounted JIRA account. Now one of our customer (they have purchased JIRA cloud using bitbucket cloud as well) asked us to help with their JIRA set up. I heard there is some kind of plugin/addin that we can use to set up the JIRA structure/settings in our account and then export it and import it at their end (I think it was called configuration manger). So I have 2 questions:
1.can we do that given that we might have 2 different licenses? - if yes, where can we purchase this plugin/addin? - if no, do we need to first upgrade to match their system and then do the import/export? Thanks a lot for your adivse!
Hi @Astrid Ludwig !
I'm not totally sure are you trying to do a migration from Jira server to server, server to cloud, or cloud to cloud?
If you are doing server to server, you can use a plugin indeed! Check out Project Configurator for Jira you can do exports and imports of projects without needing manual copying of projects that can take ages.
If you are doing server to cloud migration, you can use Atlassian's Jira Cloud Migration Assistant that does the job for you.
And lastly, if it's cloud to cloud, for that purpose there are no plugins unfortunately but there are some workarounds.
Hope this helps
Jannina
Hi Jannina,
thanks a lot for your response. We are trying to do cloud to cloud. I will check out the workarounds you mentioned.
Best,
Astrid
