Atlassian says "JIRA on mac os server is not supported os, it is only for evaluation purposes".

Does anyone have experiences with JIRA on Mac Os server? How tough was the install process, any experience in the daily usage with small team of 4-8 participants on mac platform? Any barrier has been reached while using JIRA on mac?

Also are there any substitute products that are like JIRA and are supported and can be used on an "own server" (not cloud) architecture and on mac os server?

Thanks for the replies in advance.

I've used it on Mac a lot, it does work fine.   The installation was the same as doing it on a Linux box, using the .tar.gz download.

When clients have done this, they have only done it for proof that a system works and testing, they've built their production machines on Linux machines so that they are supported.

If you insist on running on Mac, I would say it is going to run fine, but make sure you keep good backups just in case.
