Jira Automation - Send email - Insert link to Confluence page

Peter Bos August 19, 2024

Hello all,

I created a rule in Jira Automation that sends an e-mail. I want to include the link and title of Confluence pages that are linked to the Jira issue?

How can I do this?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Peter

Thanks for your response @Prachi Bolar I'm afraid I haven't described my use case sufficiently.

  • A wiki page is linked to a Jira issue.
  • In case the Jira issue is updated an e-mail is sent.
  • I want to add the URL of the linked wiki page to the e-mail.

I do not know the smart value for the 'wiki page url'.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your response :)

So here you would not be able to send the link directly.

Please find the steps on how to do so.

- Create a custom field

  • Go to Jira Settings > Issues > Custom Fields > Add Custom Field.
  • Choose a field type like "URL Field" or "Text Field" and create it. Name it something relevant, like "Confluence"
  • Add the custom field in your relevant project, Please make sure to enter the confluence URL into this custom field in the issue
  • Get the custom field id

Example

Trigger > when issue transition > Issue fields condition > send email

Please find the Confluence page related to the issue:
{{issue.customfield_ID}}

The email will contain the confluence page
