Jira Cloud Migration Does Not like custom request types and causes java.lang.illegalstateexception

Alex P October 18, 2022

I have an on-premises Jira Server with Jira Software and Service Desk licenses. I am attempting to migrate this to Jira Cloud and I have my trial instance, and on-prem instances both ready to go, but I receive this error log showing that I have 20 request types that cannot be exported.

I have discovered which requests types belong to which IDs, but I am not sure what to do from here. Here is a sample error. All 20 are the same error, just the type numbers are different.

ERROR SDIT project-export We couldn't export Request Type 54. Reason: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Entity mri:mig:jira/servicedesk:requestTypeGroup:34 is expected to be exported, but it was not

If I hide these requests types, people can no longer choose them in the Service desk, but the error goes away.

I feel like it has something to do with database alignment and whatnot but am unsure what the proper method is to get rid of these errors without causing too much interruption in my production environment (I do not have a Dev at this time).

Does anyone have any advice here?

Thanks!
