New Organization created with restapi cannot be searched for via UI nor restapi

I am creating an organization via the api and getting return status of 201. If I use service desk to open the new organization via the Id returned in the status I find the Organization. But if I search using the Customers search box the new Organization is not found.

Also when I GET all organizations via the restapi the newly created Organization is not returned.

Is there some kind of background indexing related to Organization?

Also, if I try to create/POST the same organization name again and again I always get status 201. Is organization POST idempotent? It doesn't say so in the docs
