Not able to Clone an Epic with all children using Jira Automation

vyanktesh_chandely March 7, 2023

Hi,

I'm trying to Clone Epic 1 with all its children to create another Epic 2 with children.
The problem I'm facing is with cloning the Epic, rest of its children are getting cloned/created but :
1. Since the Epic 1 is not getting cloned t Epic 2, the children which are created are not attached to any Epic and hence looks like individual issues with no parents.
2. For Cloning Epic 1 (Step 1) I have tried all sorts of values to get the Epic name right but its giving the following error :

Below is the rule for Cloning the epic :

Hello @vyanktesh_chandely

Can you confirm that you are working with issues in a Company Managed project?

Your post is tagged as "jira-service-management". Are you working with issues in a Jira Service Management (vs. Jira Software) project?

Hi @vyanktesh_chandely

I'm Luka from codefortynine.

If you don't mind using a third-party app our app Deep Clone for Jira can clone Epics with all its children.
You can go clone your Epics the following way:

  • Navigate to the issue you want to clone

  • Click Action menu ••• > Deep Clone

  • Select Epic/Tree Clone

  • Configure and create your Epic/Tree Clone

In our documentation, you can also find a lot more you can do when cloning your Epic with Deep Clone for Jira.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
