Notification disable for certain type of issue types in a project

Narasimha V Prasad Kulkerni September 24, 2018

Hello All,

Is there any way we can control what issue types to send notifications with in a project.

We are using XRAY test management tool and we don't want system to send notifications to

  • Approvers when scripts are assigned
  • whenever an issue is modified it shouldn't send notifications whoever worked on it previously

Thanks

Narasimha

Hi Narasimha,

Sending Notifications for specific issue types is possible, although requires a lot of configuration: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-send-notifications-by-issue-type-678559814.html

From looking through the Xray documentation, it looks like they only have three custom notifications: https://confluence.xpand-it.com/display/XRAY/Test+Run+Email+Notifications but reading your scenario, I don’t believe these are the notifications that are being sent.

Are the notifications that are being sent Issue Updated notifications?  If so, these are sent out for any kind of update, so might be tough to isolate these specific events, unless these happen on a specific status or transition?

If previous assignees are receiving notifications, it’s probably because they’re still listed as a watcher on the ticket and the notification scheme is set to send notifications to watchers. Removing themselves as watchers will stop the notifications.  You can also use the Notification Helper https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/jira-admin-helper-938847791.html to figure out why a notification has been sent.

I know this is a lot of information, due to the questions asked but hopefully this helps!

Cheers,

Keri
