Notify Assignee when previous issue has been completed.

Eugene Kosachevich April 11, 2022

Hello Everyone,

I am fairly new to JIRA and I'm looking to be pointed in the right direction to create automatic notifications to be sent to assignee's when a previous issue has been completed.

To be more specific, once user 'DM' completes 'Item 1' I would like user 'EK' to receive a notification that 'Item 2' is ready to be worked on and then so forth onto Item 3 and 4.

I have attempted to use the When: Issue transitioned to Done ; Then: Assign the issue to "Copy from issue"

Hi Eugene,

Did you want to post a screenshot of the Automation rule you're working with?

Here's a little more info on getting started with Atlassian Automation:

Hey Charlie,

I have gone through a couple different iterations of the automation and have landed with the following automation rule.

So far, it seems that the assignee of the Split to the issue will get the email that the previous issue has been completed. I'm not quite sure if there is a better way of doing this. I would love to be able to incorporate a notification within JIRA for the assignee of the 'split to' issue as well as the email.

Noting out of the box will do that. You would need to write scripting, but I think you'll have problems because users change and the relationship would need to be dynamic.
