Hi there,

I'm trying automate cloning an epic and all its tasks when a new version is created, I can't seem to figure out how best to ensure the cloned tasks "epic link" gets set to the cloned epic.

I've tried the following:

  1. Use JQL branching to get the epic, clone it and create a smart variable to keep track of the issue key

  2. Use JQL branching to get the tasks, clone it and assign the "Epic Link" to the created smart variable

This doesn't seem to work because the branching doesn't allow references to other branches.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm not sure, but  you could set a rule that when a new version is created, it clones the epic and its tasks, and then sets the "Epic Link" of the cloned tasks to the cloned epic. You could use the "Issue field Condition" to ensure that only tasks belonging to the original epic are cloned.
