I have a private hosted (firewalled) Jira/Confluence instance, but I need to have a public portal to allow customers to input issues and access certain documentation. Has anyone ever had any success with implementing a public Service Desk instance (cloud or server) that connects with a private (server) Jira/Confluence instance behind a firewall?
Any tips for how to make something like this work without allowing public access to thefirewall instance would be most appreciated.
Thank you!
Agree with Joseph, otherwise your other option is to set up a new Jira instance.
This is a network issue. The network folks need to open a port to the outside world and have a public URL with DNS server pointing to the server IP address inside your private network. For security purposes I suggest you use port 443 and get a certificate so the traffic will be encrypted. If you don't have a DMZ the network or security folks may not let you do this. This is a normal type of setup.
