I am trying to show the progress in a structure in terms of story points instead of status. The summed story points of sub-tasks make up the story points of parents.
I am able to see progress values in the column. However, the values are not correct. In some instances, the parent's progress shows 100% completion while the children are not yet 100% complete.
How can I show progress in terms of story points such that the progress of children is reflected in the total progress shown by parent?
In the screenshot attached, the issues are seen in a hierarchical order, their story points are also visible and you can see that the progress based on story points does not reflect the story points..
Hi @Aiman Syed,
You would need to set progress calculation based on status / resolution for your scenario. As long as an issue is not completed, the number of story points delivered is actually still 0 (zero) - that is also how Jira deals with this.
To roll up the progress of story points, you should configure the total progress calculation to be based on story points using the weight option of your progress column. From the product documentation:
Hope this helps!
FYI: see the settings of the progress field. Progress based on resolution only and weight determined by Story Points:
