I am running Jira Server 8.3 and am syncing AD groups.
I want to be able to add and AD group to the jira-adminstrators group but am only seeing an option to add individual users.
Is there a way to add a group? Thanks.
Jira does support nested groups, but you can only nest internal groups in internal groups, or external groups in external groups, not external in internal or vice versa. It looks like Crowd allows you to nest an AD group to an internal group (jira-administrators), see Nested groups in Crowd.
You can add any group in the global permission in jira system.
Jira System Administrators.

Hi Paul,
The other option for you would be to change the Jira global permissions and give the system administrator role to "pauls-internal-group".
