Added users via api, shows invite sent, but no invite has been received

Mark T July 11, 2023

Added about 400+ users via API to our service desk as we're migrating from Zendesk.

Used create_customer(), then add_users_to_organization(), and then add_customers() to add them to the specific service desk portal.

Unfortunately, all the newly created users show a status of invited, but no one has received an email invitation.

If you go to a specific user and click resend invite, the user gets the invitation.

Hi @Mark T

Is the user who or you has added the users via the API, a site admin or a trusted user?

If not, that user or you doesn’t have permission to invite new users to the site.

You need to reach out to the site administrators for them to invite the user or add you as a site admin, so you will be able to access the User management to invite them.

So we upgraded to a paid plan so we could get support. Turns out this is a known defect: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSDCLOUD-6306

Pretty useless to be able to create a user via API but said user has to be manually invited.
