Hello everyone,
I need to create an automation rule to create epic and then stories with sub-tasks for this epic.
We use Service Portal as Intake.
Actions in order:
1. Requestor submits the from on Service Portal
2. Service Management ticket created
3. Service Management ticket triggers a Jira Software Epic
4. Jira Software Epic triggers stories with sub-tasks for different teams.
Step 4 doesn't work.
The rule doesn't see Epic as a trigger. It looks to the initial trigger of the Service Management ticket and says that the trigger didn't match the condition.
Why the rule doesn't consider created by another rule Epic as a trigger?
If I have Epic and stories in one rule I cannot add sub-tasks to the stories.
Thanks,
Natalia
Hi @Natalia Golikova
Developer from Automation here.
If I understand correctly you have 1 rule which creates an epic and story, then another which attempts to create sub-tasks for those new rules that is not triggering? If that is the case then you may need to select "Allow rule trigger" from the rule config screen on second rule that triggers from the first, this option allows a rule to trigger from another one.
Please get in touch with support if you are still having difficulties getting your rule to work: https://support.atlassian.com/
Cheers.
Hello @Natalia Golikova
Please show us the details of the rule (or multiple rules) you have created, and the full rule audit log for an execution of the rule that failed.
