I have a project with a tailored workflow and a lot of custom fields spread over 4 tabs. In the old issue view this works fine. However in the new issue view all the fields appear down the right-hand side, but I have no control over their appearance. So I have lost the order that I put the fields into on the screens, and I have lost the tabs. These were both key as different people needed to complete each tab, and now it is unclear who needs to complete what before an issue can be transitioned or closed.
Does anyone know if it is possible to achieve this in the new issue view? And if so how?
Or if not, do Atlassian plan to add this in anytime soon?
Hello Simon,
Thank you for raising this question and for your feedback about the tabs functionality on the New Issue View.
Indeed, We've already required an improvement on this feature and our development team is currently working to implement this feature on the new Issue View.
You can check any updates about this feature and personally give your feedback to them in the feature request below:
- In new Jira Issue View turn "Tabs" into collapsible groupings on side bar
Since they've not provided an ETA to implement it yet, I recommend you to vote on this feature request to increase its priority and let them know about the impact of this functionality for your business case.
Additionally, we have also reported another suggestion to allow the ability to reorder the context fields in the right panel of the new issue view, so our customers can better customize it for their needs:
- Provide the ability to reorder the context fields in the new Jira issue view
Please, let me know if we can help you with anything else, Simon.
Thanks, I've voted for those topics. Eagerly awaiting the update to the new issue view.

We have some large custom fields (see CHANGE EXECUTION PLAN) that are in Tabs, but now appear in the sidebar. As they sometimes exceed hundreds of lines, this makes them very difficult to read. Neither of the proposed solutions help in this case. We need to be able to specify a field is to be displayed in the central viewing panel.

We use tabs combined with panels within these tabs which are totally not readable anymore in the new issue view. Please bring back the tabs.
