Can states be synchronized? In problems bound by the option: Create linked issues

I would like to be able to synchronize the incident states that I create through the option : Create linked issues

The documentation indicates that: The linked issues are updated and people involved are notified when the issue or problem is resolved. 

It looks like it can sync natively.

Yes you can use JIRA Service Desk Automation to update linked issues, it is not be a sync but if you just want to update then yes it can work.
