We are troubleshooting problems with our Jira Server migration to Jira Data Center and we want to use the configuration manager plugin... however... we are unable to use the CM plugin due to license mismatch we have in jira server version. We have 2000 licenses of Jira Server but only 500 licenses of Jira Server CM. Is there a way to reduce the license from 2000 to 500 for our legacy Jira Server version so that we can get this plugin to work on old environment, then take a snapshot of the projects, and continue with the Data Center migration process.
Hello Barton,
A per Atlassian's announcement "As of February 15, 2022 PT, you will no longer be able to upgrade or downgrade tiers for your Server products or apps. Changing tiers will only be available by moving to either Cloud or Data Center."
You can check the details here
I think you can raise a ticket with Atlassian and request, if they can help you with anything here.
Thanks,
Mahima
I think that's going to be a problem. Moving from 2000 server licenses to 500 server licenses means you're moving down licensing tiers. Atlassian stopped the movement between licensing tiers for server licenses last year, I believe.

Thanks, when you state "movement between tiers" are you referring to sales? I was hoping that there would be technical mechanism allowing customers to align (reduce) server licenses to be the same as plugin licenses... even if only temporary.

Barton,
Even before Atlassian stopped selling Server licenses, there was no technical way of temporarily reducing licenses.
