Hi There:
Reaching out to the community .. again .. as I have always had great responses.
I'm trying to combine 2 Projects Jira Issues onto one Scrum Board.
I able to create a filter pulling in the Jira Issues from both projects and have them successfully display and be worked on, on one Scrum Board.
Where I'm running into a problem is the "Create Sprint" button is greyed out and when you hover over it, it indicates you need authority to "Create Sprints" on both projects .. which I have confirmed we do full Admin Rights for both projects.
One additional detail is that the one Project is under a JIRA License and the other Project is Under a Service Desk License .. could this be causing the .. problem???
Hello @Mike Lemmon
Can you share with us the actual filter you are using for the board?
The filter must explicitly identify the two projects from which to pull issues. By "explicitly" I mean you must have criteria in that filter for the "project" field; i.e.
project in (project1, project2)...
If you do not explicitly declare the projects in the filter, then Jira will determine that any project in your entire Jira instance might include issues you want, and Jira will require you have Manage Sprint permissions in ALL projects in your Jira instance.
If you are using other criteria to select your issues, like Components or Labels or other criteria, it does not matter if there are matching issues actually only in the two projects. Jira evaluates which projects you want first, then looks at the remaining criteria.
Have you tried creating a Scrum board for just the Service Management project to see if the Create Sprint button is still disabled?
What version of Jira Software and Jira Service Management are you using?

Hey Trudy .. thanks for the suggestion, we will try that out ..
Both are local installs .. not cloud

Are the two projects installed on one system where both Jira Software and Jira Service Management are enabled? Or are you working with projects on linked by separate Jira systems?
What version of the Jira Software product and the Jira Service Management product are you using?

Hey Trudy:
Thanks again for your responses.. much appreciated.
We are using local installed versions for both products.
The one project is in JIRA Service Management and the other is in JIRA Software.
We are further exploring the built in integration between JIRA Service Management and JIRA Software .. as . on the surface the built in integration should meet our needs.

Hey Trudy:
Thanks for the response, much appreciated.
Our filter does have both projects and the relevant Issues are appearing on our Scrum Board.
The issue is the "Create Sprint" button is now greyed out.
When you hover over the Create Sprint button, it displays a message indicating you must have authority to Create Sprints on both Projects.
As I have Admin rights on both Projects, I should have Create Sprint authority.
I continue to feel it is a problem with, the first Project being in JIRA Software and the second project being in JIRA Service Management ...
Have you created a scrum board that brings in Issues from the two different Atlassian products?
The Atlassian documentation indicates to integrate the two Products you are to have the JIRA Service Management tool automatically create an Issue into the JIRA Software tool ... this results in two Issues being created for the one .. reported problem .. we are currently doing this manually and wanted to eliminate the need to have the two issues.. having the developers do updates directly to the Issue created in the JIRA Service Management tool.
Any insights on how best to approach this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again .. have a great day.
