Cross reference both ways Insight

Anthony Zepeda June 19, 2018

Is there a way 2 Insight fields can reference each other. For example currently I have a field called Services Affected, I then have a 2nd fields called Sub-Services, which only list Inbound Reference based on the 1st field selection. Is there a way that I could change the Insight referenced field to a normal Insight field, and have it work backwards as well. For example if I set the Sub-Service, it then limits what I can select on the 1st field Services affected to what is available as an outbound reference based on the sub-service field?

I've requested this feature with the Insight developers, but currently it's not possible to have two Insight reference fields reference each other. There are ways around it but it's not very pretty. You could have Behaviours or some other plugin that can hide fields, and then have two regular Insight fields, and then two (initially hidden) reference fields that show up when you select a value in one of the main Insight fields. Once you select a value in one of the main fields, the other becomes hidden, and the reference field will be displayed in its stead.

I hope that makes sense. It's doable currently, but a little tricky.
