Displayname [X] on deactivated AD users

Slaekke September 6, 2019

Hi.

I have a problem that some deactivated users from AD wont show [X] in the display name. How to fix this?

Other deactivated users show [X] in display name others wont, this is not related to which groups they are included in.

Thanks so much for all help.

I think I've just found the answer.

Do you have user coming from different Directory ? On my side, users coming from the Active Directory got the [X] and users created internally doesn't have it.

Regards.

I don't think you can keep a user in the jira-software-users group when he his inactive. Because for what I understand, Jira license counting is based on users in this group (and jira-administrator) so if your user was still in this group in would use a license for nothing.

Even if you can, I don't think this would stop your problem because, on our instance, we don't have a strong behaviour on user with [X] or not. Some are still in groups, some are not...

yes you can. If you just deactivate the user in AD (without removing the jira groups) the displayname will show with a stroke/line. And user will show as inactive

Users get automaticly placed in jira-software-users after they login for the first time. Some users that been deactivated in AD previously has [X] in displayname and is still is placed in jira-software-users group. Is there a setting in jira that keeps the users in this group and then gets the [X]?

Hello,

I think it depends on the activity of the user.

This bug can maybe tell you more about it :

Tried to edit the order of the directories. Then sync after user has logged on and been deactivated in AD. Still no [X] in displayname. Other tips?
