So I have created a JSM Project where I can email in using an external automation tool and it will create a simple jira ticket with some pre-filled out information, perfect.
The next challenge I have is that I need to be able to send and receive emails from specific issues so the sending emails can come from my JSM project email that is perfectly fine but when we receive responses we need them to go to the specific ticket that it was send from if that makes sense?
I have seen some similar things online but no one has a clear answer and some addons simply let you email out from tasks sending the whole task, some people have said use the automation rules to trigger an email out but this would not work with how I currently have to set things up so it becomes a problem.
Does anyone know of a solution/recommendation?
To actually Answer my own issue, I have tinkered and found a way to do this.
When creating the request (we created testing tickets via our JSM Project email address).
When you also Cc the third-party email address (no jira license or access required) you can actually automatically add them as a requested participant and disable all notifications to them barring the comments where they are @'d into the reply and once they respond with the subject containing the ticket reference then it automatically goes to the individual case.
It would be easier if there was a more refined way of doing this i.e you can just avoid making people requested and have the JSM Project send nicely formatted emails in an email tab next to the comments tab perhaps? but for now whilst looking slightly odd, it does function as I need it to so hopefully this helps anyone else wondering the same thing.
