Hi everyone,
we use Jira Service Desk with a single portal to provide support/service for different clients (organisations). So we have several organisations and related customers configured.
For some request types I added the Approvers field to the related portal forms, so the creator of an issue can select/input one or more approvers of the organisation the creator is member of.
When I select the (3rd) option "...Choose this option to allow customers to search their organization for approvers" in JSD-settings->"Who can customers share requests with?", the Approvers field shows all available users matching the input (via suggestion-list). Including the ones from organisations the current user is not member of, or users who are not in any organisation in Jira Service Desk at all (but are regular/internal Jira users). When I select the (1st) option "Other customers in their organization. If they're not in an organization, they won't find anyone." for JSD-portal-only users (customers) it's not possible to add approvers. Neither by manually inputing the email address used for inviting the other customers nor by typing e.g. the name, as no serach-suggestions are made.
I don't know what was the thinking behind this configuration "feature". But as we have quite a lot of organisations with customers, it is totally not acceptable that any customer can see any other customer (including their email addresses) just by typing a single letter in the approvers field. Which would be the case when selecting the 3rd option in the settings mentioned above.
Creating separate JSD projects for each customer isn't an option neither. In the end, what is the concept of a "organisation" and "customer" good for, if it can only be used for sharing issues.
Is there a way to achieve customer-selectable approvers (of their own organisation only)?
Thanks a lot in advance and kind regards!
Hi everyone,
although, the answer from Rodrigo is basically perfect (under the given circumstances), I didn't "accept" the answer as a "solution", as there is currently no solution to my problem. ;)
From my point of view this thread could be "closed", or left as is.
Cheers!
Hi Gabriel,
This is an expected behaviour of the approvers field. You will only be able to find approvers when you select the option Any customer or organization, by searching this project. Choose this option to allow customers to search their organization for approvers.
We do have an open feature request, to change this behaviour, here: JSDCLOUD-5602
I'd suggest you to vote on this feature and also leave a comment on why this affects you.
Regards,
