Hello,
I need to get the spent time per assignee in a dashboard, including the time of the subtasks. I currently have a Workload Pie Chart, but it does not include the subtasks. How can I solve this?
Hi @Arnelys 👋
Welcome to the Community!
If you’re open to using add-ons, Time in Status can be solution for you.
1. Use Assignee Time Report which shows you how long each assignee has been working on each issue.
You can display this data as a table view or chart view (column, area, pie)
2. For Scrum teams we are also offering Sprint Report by Time in Status
You can also book a live demo - we'll show you the application inside out and answer all your questions.
Add-on developed by my team.
I hope you find this helpful 🚀
Hi @Arnelys
welcome to the community!
I'm not personally aware of a good built-in way to do this in Jira - but perhaps someone else has an idea.
Alternatively, if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you'll have options available. E.g., you may want to check out the app that my team and I are working on: JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a long list of advanced features, including support for issue grouping by any issue field(s), and sum-ups.
With these, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:
This is really just one of a virtually endless number of possible views and reports; you can also view and group by any other issue fields, configure different sum-up styles, etc. etc. As every JXL sheet is powered by a JQL query or saved filter, you have full control over which issues you want to be included - i.e., you can easily include sub-tasks, too.
I should also add that JXL can do much more than the above: From support for configurable issue hierarchies, to conditional formatting, or inline bulk editing via copy/paste.
Any questions just let me know!
Best,
Hannes

Hi @Arnelys
Welcome to the community !!
For detailed time tracking reports including subtasks, if you are willing to consider a mktplace app, take a look at our add-on.
Worklogs Time Tracking & Timesheets
With this add-on, you can easily view all time entries for multiple issues day wise, user wise, grouped by in a single view. Main features of the app -

Hi @Arnelys ,
You can create a filter in Jira to display the relevant subtasks and use it with the "Filter Results" gadget on the Jira dashboard. By adding the Parent, Time Spent, and Assignee columns, you can easily analyze the worklogs. However, as identifying all subtasks can be challenging, I recommend using a time tracking app from the Atlassian Marketplace, such as WorklogPRO. With its hierarchical grouping feature, you can select the parent issue to group subtasks with their parent issues and display the recorded worklogs on the timesheet report dashboard. Additionally, you can filter by user or include the "Assignee" field in the report for more efficient analysis of time spent based on worklog entries.

Hello @Arnelys
Welcome to the community
Jira’s Workload Pie Chart does not include subtask time by default, but there are a few ways to achieve this:
If you need a detailed and automated breakdown of time spent per assignee, including subtasks, Time in Status apps like Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira, developed by our team at OBSS, can help:
Here is the sample screenshot of Assignee Reports;
If you'd like to explore this solution further, feel free to check out Timepiece on the Atlassian Marketplace or schedule a demo with us for a walkthrough of the app's features.
Hope this helps! 🚀

Welcome to the community, @Arnelys.
I am Marlene, product manager of Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards.
Another possibility would be our Marketplace app. With Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards you can sum up any Jira number field, including time spent, with the following gadgets.
You can try out Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards without installation on our demo dashboards.

Hi,
I am Ewa and I represent SolDevelo. If you are considering marketplace app, I would like to recommend you our Worklogs - Time Tracking and Time Reports, lite Time Tracker.
With Worklogs, you can effortlessly create detailed reports as a dashboard gadget or within the app itself. This allows you to:
✅ View all hours logged by users on specific tickets or subtasks in a clear table format.
✅ Visualize data with bar charts and pie charts for better insights
✅ Categorize results by Assignee (to see hours logged on assigned tickets) or by User (to track individual contributions across issues).
✅ Export report to an excel file.
✅ Create reports based on Jira issue fields, including custom fields.
I hope that it will be helpful to you. If you are interested in complete walkthrough, I will be happy to meet on a demo with you.
Have a great week!
Best regards,
Ewa

Hi!
Welcome to the community!
You might consider using time-tracking apps that in most cases have a customizable report of tracked time on issues.
I can recommend our Clockwork Automated Time Tracking & Timesheets Pro or Lite app, which allows you to track time for individual users across the projects, and this data using timesheets and create reports that can be configured in various ways using break-down and filtering options.
Using timesheets, you can create a report and filter it based on several options including, projects, issue types, issues labels, or other fields. You can choose a range for a whole year and break down the data by chosen fields. This information can be also exported to Excel files.
Please find below the sample of how the timesheet looks like:
Our app has 2 dashboard gadgets available where you can either show a timesheet report, as shown above, or a worklog summary. For details, you can refer to our documentation here.
If you have any questions, you can contact us at our help center.
Cheers!

Hi @Arnelys
Jira doesn't have a built-in solution for the report you mentioned. You can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.
Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. For your case, you can have a look at Time in Assignee report to get how much time each assignee spent in each issue (tasks, sub tasks etc.).

Hi @Arnelys
Welcome to the Atlassian Community! Since you're open to checking out apps on the marketplace, I wanted to suggest 7pace Timetracker for Jira.
7pace Timetracker is super easy to get started with, as it's built right into your existing Jira workflows once the app is installed, so team members can easily track time on any issue type as they go. There are also calendar views and timesheets with some great time-saving features for folks who prefer to track that way. :)
To answer your question about getting a visual to see time spent per assignee, including subtasks - we can help! I've included an example below, but 7pace makes it easy to filter and group any of your time-tracking data and visualize who worked on what over any timeframe. Please let me know if you'd like more information, and we can set up a demo! Thanks!

Hi!
I found other solution!
To make the dashboard workload pie chart, I was using a filter that included the subtask issue type, but I changed it to sub-tasks and I was able to get the data I want, the spent time by Assignee
project = 'X' AND sprint = "X" AND issuetype IN (Task, Bug, Story, Sub-Task) ORDER BY created DESC
just change subtask by sub-task
I hope this solution helps someone else!
Thanks,

I was creating an automatic rule to get the sum of the spent time of its children in the parent, but in the end I have to look at the sum of that time of the parent in the backlog for each dev for each user story that has sub tasks and add it to the rest of the time that the workload pie shows me in each dev, in the workload pie dashboard it is allowed to add the spent time but not for the sub tasks.
However, something curious is that I made an automatic rule to get the sum of the original estimate of the sub tasks in the parents and when creating this type of dashboard it shows me the original estimate of those parents, but it does not work like that for the spent time
So far I think the definitive solution is to go to the marketplace and choose one of the applications that you show me in your answers.
Thank you all very much for your help!

You're absolutely right! Jira’s default workload pie dashboard does not include spent time from sub-tasks, and automation rules can only do so much when it comes to aggregating time-tracking data.
Since your rule successfully sums the original estimate from sub-tasks to the parent but doesn’t work the same way for spent time, this is a known limitation. The best approach, as you mentioned, would be to explore Marketplace apps that provide detailed time-tracking and workload analysis.
If you're looking for a reporting solution that can sum up spent time from sub-tasks and visualize workload effectively, you might want to check out apps like Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira or other advanced workload tracking tools available on the Atlassian Marketplace.
Let me know if you need any recommendations or guidance on setting up an app that meets your needs! 😊
