I want to move all issues from one project to another

Harish A July 3, 2024

Hi Team,

I want to move all issues from one project to another project.
I have tried

issues --> top right corner --> bulk change issues --> then select issues and try to move.
I have seen an error message as parent-child linkage will get removed if I act. Hence I have withdrawn the action.

Can someone help me, on how can I move from one project to another with parent child linkage.

Hi Harish,

Can you confirm your sub-tasks really are 'Sub-task' type issues, and not some other generic issue type that has been named "sub-task"?

Jira does not support having a sub-task in a different project than its parent issue so if you move the parent you will move the child.

My advice would be to create a test issue with the link and try to bulk move that and see the result.

Thanks, @Ciara TN for responding!

I have tried moving the Epic with 4 Stories (issue type- Story). Post movement only Epic has moved to new projects but not the Stories. I can move the Story separately but not with Parent Epic.

Test ticket also, the same output which I Tried.

Hi Harish,

Then I would use the Export and Import functionality. This will keep the link types.

Export and Import documentation:
