Is it possible to enable 2FA (Microsoft O365) for Jira

Hi,

we are using Jira and Confluence and using Microsoft AD (O365) for user authentication. In general, we have 2 Factor Authentication there enabled and we would like to have this also for Jira and Confluence Log-In.

Is it possible to use it there (maybe with an app?).

Thanks

Bastian

Hello @Bastian Stehmann

You can achieve the above use-case by two ways as correctly suggested by @Dirk Ronsmans

  • Using SSO
  • Using 2FA App

We can help you to implement it either way as we support both the applications.

You can either raise a ticket with us or can reach out directly at atlassiansupport@xecurify.com for faster resolution.

PS: I work with miniOrange , one of the top SSO as well as 2FA Vendor.

I hope this helps you :)

Thanks,

Mahima

Hi @Bastian Stehmann ,

This should definitely be possible but yes, it will require an app.

On the marketplace you can fine a plethora of them https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?hosting=server&query=2fa so I suggest to read some of the reviews there and maybe start a trial of one you like.

You can also opt to use a SSO solution (SAML) with O365 and see if maybe the 2FA is an option you can set on your azure?

I currently have a client that uses a Azure SSO app and they enforce the 2FA (through the microsoft authenticator) on the Azure portal. So might already be something to look in to. The SSO part with Azure AD I believe is even free (and an app from Microsoft)

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/saas-apps/jiramicrosoft-tutorial

so maybe exploring the options of that could also be a way to go.

Hi @Dirk Ronsmans ,

Thanks for your answer. I already checked some of the apps and there are plenty that support 2FA, but I didn't find one supporting the 2FA mechanism offered by MS 0365 and our IT wants specifically that one.

But I'll have a look at the app provided by Microsoft.
