JSD Issue View Activity Stream and Default Filter Logic

Patrick Chen March 23, 2019

Hi folks, the other day from one of our Confluence Spaces I added an App Link *to* a Jira Service Desk Project.

JSD 8.0.0, Confluence 6.14.1, both are onprem

When I did that, the Activity>Activity tab on Issues in that JSD Project were flooded with entries from the Linked Confluence Space. Every single edit to a Confluence Page, which can happen multiple times in just a few minutes, are now showing up as separate entries in the Issue's Activity stream. The majority of those Page Edit entries aren't event relevant to the Issue.

I tried Deleting that Confluence Space -> JSD Project App Link, but those page edit entries are continuing to show up in that JSD Project's Issues. I cannot find any documentation about how this Activity stream in the Issue view works; there is a little documentation about the Activity stream Gadget for Dashboards, but nothing about configuring the one in Issues.

Here are my questions:

  • Can the Activity Stream that shows up in a Jira Project’s Issue's Activity>Activity tab be filtered or otherwise configured by an administrator? Where can I do that?
  • By what default logic does the Issue level Activity Stream choose the Confluence activity to show? Why would it show dozens of page edits from Confluence? Is it just guessing from some keywords in the Issue and associated users?
  • How can I clear the cache or whatever Confluence activity has been synced over?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Patrick

Noting that https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-67756 is making this problem worse, because I can't bring up the gear icon to check for what filters are available for the Issue View's Activity Stream.
