Jira Service Desk (Data Center) integration with Jira Software (Server)

Vjaceslavs Malgovskis September 25, 2020

Hi!

Is there a way to integrate/connect:

1x Jira Service Desk on Data Center license

1x Jira Software on Server license ?

The idea is to be able to move/clone issues from JSD (DC) to Jira (Server) and vice versa.

Is this possible with IssueSYNC addin or any other addins available?

Knowledge about Your experience would be most welcome!

Thank You in advance and have a good day!

Kind Regards.

Hello @Vjaceslavs Malgovskis

Jose from the Exalate team here 👋🏼

From what you are saying, it looks like Exalate is a good fit for your case.

Adding to @Jorge Jerez comments, you can check this how-to guide to accompish that with Exalate:

You can skip the initial part and go directly to step 1

I can recommend you Exalate for this, my team is using it to Sync a Jira Service Desk on a server model, with a Jira Software in a Data center model, it's an excellent plugin and have a nice support team.

I wouldn't call it "integrate" because that doesn't tell you anything about what it is.

I would look to the synchronisation apps that allow you to link projects or issues from one Jira to another so that changes on either end get synchronised over to the other.  I've always used Backbone or Exalate for it, but there are other sync apps in the marketplace.

Remember that Service Desk and Software work differently though - if you want an issue to behave the same, you'll need to install the same application on both sides.

Thank You for Your input on this.

Yes, thank You for the correction, syncronisation is a better term for this.

I would also like to ask You Your opinion:

A good example of the situation would be:

1. Service Desk receives a request from Business.

2. We need to create a ticket in a different instance (Jira Software) in a Developent project.

I think we don't need exactly full syncronization. I mean, there will be occurances when the ticket doesn't need to be created on the Development project.

Would it be wiser to use Issue Linking? this https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver073/configuring-issue-linking-861253998.html

Is it possible over different instances?

Thank You in advance.

Kind Regards
