Jira notifications sometimes redirect to a clunky interface

As the title says, notifications sometimes redirect users to a page where the interface seems a bit older and clunkier than usual.

To illustrate, here is a picture of a comment in the usual interface:

And here is the same comment in the clunky interface:

The only difference between the two seems to be that the URL has this extra parameter:

&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Acomment-tabpanel#comment-10061

It also seems this happens whenever the notification is due to a mention in a comment.

Does anyone know how to disable this so that all notifications lead to the new interface?
