Hi,
So the new Jira issue display places the description field on the right side of the screen, and that's fine. But it turned it from a markdown display field to a simple raw text field. That's very inconvenient because now I cannot display no lists, code, links etc.
Please see attached screenshot for reference.
Does anyone know how to solve this, am I missing something?
I'm using Jira 149ae940 on the cloud.
Hi @Yakir Sobelman,
As far as I’m aware the position of the fields cannot be changed at this time. However there is a feedback button on the new issue display. In the top right corner.
Apologies I cannot be of anymore assistance.
Hi @[deleted] and thanks,
The main issue here is not the field position but its inability to display markdown.

Hi @Yakir Sobelman,
It seems markdown is currently being rolled out for the new issue view and I can confirm that on my instance we have markdown on our description field.

New Atlassian editor
We're also rolling out a new editor as part of the new issue view, with a cleaner look and markdown support. The editor converts things like links, code, and markdown on-the-fly, so you can paste in your content and let the editor do the work.
What happens when you select the description field in the new issue detail view?
Thanks

Hi @[deleted],
Currently it just displays plain text (see attachments).
I've seen the new editor while writing comments, It's pretty nice!
From your answer (which is very helpful, thank you), I guess I'll just have to wait for this feature to be rolled out. Too for the functionality gap now.
Anyway thanks again!

I hope it gets sorted for you @Yakir Sobelman, fingers crossed :)

Any updates on this @[deleted]
We are importing descriptions from Github formatted in Markdown and it's very painful to not see it formatted properly.

Can you still switch to the visual editor when editing the description field on an issue? If not, perhaps Rich Text Editing got disabled somehow? At least on server (cloud may be different), System Cog (upper right) > System > Rich text editor (in left navigation panel in User Interface section).

10x @Payne
On our conf screens this field can be either plain / wiki text displayed. I left it on wiki as it always was,
