Notification not getting triggered

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Configure a custom event notification for a specific JIRA workflow transition or status

I have added a transition to the workflow and have changed the Generic Event to the custom event and have published the workflow. The Custom event is also mapped to notify a single user using the notification scheme when the issue is closed. But the notification is not getting triggered when the issue is closed.

Are you testing it by yourself and has "Notify own changes" turned off?

Nope. I am testing with another account but have set to notify me on the issue being closed. Firstly, the Issue Closed System event does not get triggered when a card is moved to status Close so i created a Custom event called Status closed and have changed the generic event for the same.
