A reliable method to link two tickets based on common summary?

Hi,

I'm trying to find a way to reliably link tickets based on summary (could possibly use something else). The flow is as follows:

  1. A parent ticket in Project X has a workflow Action to duplicate it in another project (Project Y) with its child issues.
  2. The new ticket in the Project Y is generated with its new child issues.
  3. I want to link the child issues from Project Y to Project X through an issue link:
    • Linking the parent ticket is easy as that can be directly done through the workflow action
    • Linking the child issues needs some type of separate post function or automation. I'm trying to do this by searching and matching by summary but it isn't reliable and has issues if there are any special characters.

Any ideas?

Hello @Ahmad Sidawi

Base on your description, if i understand correcly you have a issue X-1 with subtak X-2  on proj

And if you linked to the duplicated  issue Y-1  who have a subtask Y-2

You looking the way via automation to linked Y-2 to X-2

I can suggest this one :)  (Automation cross project)

Hope this can help  and you may need add more condition to adapt your project configuration

Would this work for Child Issues and not subtasks?

And how in this automation is it finding the corresponding task rather than all the tasks?
