Add component dropdown to resolution window

Nicole Belflower July 28, 2022

Can anyone tell me where to go to add the Components field to this window? It pops up when we are resolving issues and is a headache to have to close out to go add the component. I do not want to set an auto-component.

Hi @Nicole Belflower , welcome to the community!

So I suspect the issue is that you have a screen defined and associated to the transition to the done status. This is most commonly used to expose the Resolution field so the user can choose the exact resolution for that specific issue when closing it.

It appears that someone has added the component field to that screen. So it should be a simple matter of removing the component field from that screen. However, keep in mind that the person that added it might need it. Unfortunately they did not consider the fact that other workflows might use that same screen. So potentially a better solution is to create your own screen or find a suitable screen that already exists to meet your needs.

Now to find out what screen is associated with your workflow, assuming that you have administrative permissions, go into project settings and workflows and then edit your workflow. Find the transition to you're done status and double click that transition and you should see a pop-up that illustrates the associated screen name. Armed with this information you can simply go into screens and find that screen and update by removing the component field.

I was able to figure this out.

Project Settings > Workflows > find your Workflow and Edit > Diagram view > click on the transition lines that point to 'Resolved' > click on the Screen link that appears after clicking the transition lines then add the Component field on the next page.

The Component field should now appear on the he Resolve screen.

This worked!

I went into the workflow and found the correct screen and was able to add the components field. Thank you!

Hi @Nicole Belflower how/where did add the Component field to the 'Resolve the issue' screen? We currently have to close out and go add the component like you experienced.
