Hello,
Is it possible to automatically assign a issue to the user in a particular user group?
We want to create some user groups, and each one contain just one user, that will then be assigned to specific issues.
Thanks
HI @Phillip Spode welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Are you using a group picker custom field to select the specific user group?
Is the use of Components with auto-assign to a component lead perhaps an alternative?
Hello Dave,
I wanted to set up some automation so that if issue = A then assign to the user in User Group A
If issue = B then assign to user in User Group B
So its hard coded each issue to each user group.
Etc Etc. The reason for the groups was to that the assignee wasn't hard coded. And could be switched when users joined/left the business by just putting them into the relevant user group.
Im happy to try a group picker, but from what i have tested you cant assign to a user group.
Thought again about the components, but would again requires someone to go in and change the component lead each time.
Thanks so far for your suggestions.
Cheers

What is the trigger for assigning an issue to a specific group or assignee then?

Its a custom field on creation of the issue.
If custom field = A then Assignee = User in User Group A
If custom field = B then Assignee = User in User Group B
Etc Etc.
Any ideas on the best way possible to achieve this without actually specifying the assignee directly?
Cheers

Hey Phillip,
You could assign it to a Project Role using Automation. That’s a much better solution than using one-person groups in my opinion.
