When I create an Epic, I generally link Tasks as the Child issues, and I would like to automatically make the Epic assignee the Watcher on these child tasks.
However, to take it a step further, I only use Subtasks when multiple people need to review or approve a deliverable (e.g. a report), creating the subtasks to correspond with those people (e.g. 1 subtask = Bill's review, another subtask = Jenny's review, etc.) so the main task does not need to change hands a bunch. If possible to make the assignee on the parent task a watcher on all subtasks, that would be great.
I'm noting that if the Epic assignee is assigned all tasks in the Epic, this is a non-issue, but in the event that they are not the assignee, then I would like them to be notified when those who are (sub)tasked to review something update their tickets.
When looking at the Automation rules for updating the "Watcher" on an issue, the only options it gives are to add or remove specific users (see picture below). Is there anyway to automatically associate an assignee as a Watcher?
You can also use {{assignee.key}} smart value to add the assignee as a watcher.
That's very helpful! Any guidance on assigning the Epic assignee to the child tasks and subtasks?
