Automation Question

Curt Cavazos February 5, 2024

When creating automations, do we have to use the JQL in the Cron area for the other triggers to work or does it override the built in (defined triggers) if you use JQL?  Is there a way to not use JQL?

  • There can only be 1 trigger per rule.
  • Cron field in Scheduled trigger is to state the frequency on when/how often to run the rule.
  • There is a separate JQL field in scheduled trigger option, which you can use to specify/gather issues you want to work with in the said rule.
  • You can have a rule with scheduled trigger but no JQL.

Suggest you read/review automation to understand different triggers which are avilable and when to use what..

I have both the triggers set-up and JQL with CRON.  So, obviously, since I have JQL in CRON area that overrides triggers.  How can I keep the schedule without the CRON?  It shows the JQL field as mandatory (in Cron area).

This is what I see:

  • The rule has been configured with components that require issues to be provided by the trigger. You need to use the option to run JQL to provide issues. The following components require issues: Issue condition
