We have a combination of next-gen team managed projects and also classic company managed projects. We need to be able to create dashboards using shared custom fields across both the company managed and the team managed project. Is there a way that we can have the exact same custom field used across all the projects ? Right now we have had teams replicate the fields in each project which works to some extent but isn't useful in the two-dimensional filter results gadget as the fields are inherently different.
Hi @Fiona Brown
There doesn't seem to be any way to add an existing custom field to a team-managed project
This is very true. Team-based managed projects exist alongside with their configuration like custom fields, so to speak, on "their own". There is no possibility to bring in custom fields from company-managed projects.

Daniel
Thanks for confirming Daniel - thought as much. It's a bit of a pain for some custom fields we have already that we'd like to use across all projects.

Hi Fiona,
No, custom fields created in Team-managed projects are only available in the project it was created in and cannot use shared custom fields from Jira Software projects.

Thanks for your answer. I think the answer will still be the same but what we want is the other way round - we want to use the custom fields from company-managed project so that they are available to use in team-managed projects ?
I've tried making the custom fields global but it makes no difference. There doesn't seem to be any way to add an existing custom field to a team-managed project
