Good afternoon! I need to cancel Jira Cloud Premium, which is paid at an annual rate (Next bill date 05/2025). How should I proceed to make this instance free with up to 10 users?
Hello @Nathalia Bresciani
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
You must first reduce the number of licenses consumed to 10 or less. If you have more than 10 licensed users you will need to revoke the license from users accounts that no longer need the access. You can learn more about that here:
https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/remove-or-suspend-a-user/
Once you have reduced your license count to 10 or fewer users you should be able to downgrade your subscription from Premium to Free from the Billing interface, if you have sufficient permissions. Refer to this documentation for information on how to do that:
Note that there will be no refund for the time remaining until your annual subscription next bill date, as per this documentation:
Do be aware that you will lose access to a variety of functionality by downgrading from Premium to Free. You will no longer be able to use Advanced Roadmaps Plans. You will no longer be able to customize Permission Schemes or Team Managed Project Access. You will be subject to limits on the number of emails your system can send each month, and the number of Automation Rule executions you are allowed per month. Functionality available in third party apps may be reduced. Refer to:
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/what-is-the-free-jira-cloud-plan/
https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/how-is-my-usage-calculated/
Have you evaluated these and the other relevant functional changes to ensure they will not negatively impact your business needs?
100% to what @Trudy Claspill said. At this point, if you already paid for those features, I would wait on downgrading.
