Change assignee in post function custom field in 2 different cases

Arbak Martirosyan May 28, 2018

Hi,

We have "Reviewer" custom field with user picker.

During the status transition (from any status to "In review"), is it possible to set Reviewer field value to assignee, AND if Reviewer field is empty, set the reporter to be the assignee with a post function?

I know how to do each of these separately. For the  first case, "Copy Value From Other Field Function" does the job. For the second case, "Assign to reporter" will work. However, I need them working simultaneously.

If I add both post functions and order one after another, won't the last one override the previous?

HI Arbak,

I don't believe that with post functions you can do this type of action.

However, there is an free add-on, called Automation Lite for JIRA, that allows you to create multiple automations to be executed, once an specific action occurs.

I recommend you to take a look at it and test, even because it's free to.

Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for the recommendation. I've tried to use 2 different post functions: Screen Shot 2018-05-29 at 4.05.33 PM.png

However, if no reviewer is set, issue becomes unassigned after transition. Other than that it could be a solution.

Also I've seen some similar issues solved via custom script.

Can this be an example of that?

Hi Gabriel,

I've installed automation lite. Can you please share on how exactly to do it? I've tried to create a rule but couldn't address to custom field there.
