Changing a Resolution Status

April Siebart June 11, 2020

Is there a way to update the resolution status?

For example, a ticket was cancelled and the resolution was marked as "No Longer Needed".

This ticket was reopened and put into a New status, but the resolution is still listed as "No Longer Needed". Where do I need to go in project settings to be able to update the resolution?

I was able to solve for this on my own.

Added Resolution to the edit screen within the issue type and update the resolution attribute to have an "Unresolved" option in the drop down.

Hi April,

You may also want to add a Resolution clearing post function the transition that allows the issue to be reopened. It's roughly workflow > post functions > update field. Then select Resolution for the field and None for the value. This will clear the resolution when reopening issues. Cheers!

I will look into this! That would be very helpful.

Not sure where to find the post functions in the project settings? Is this hidden within the workflow?

Hi April,

Yes, post functions are in the workflow. Just click the transition where you would like to place the post function, look for the popup, and click Post Functions. Here is Atlassian's Advanced workflow configuration documentation. Cheers!
