Our requirement for 'Request a New Computer' are that this request must be approved by the department group of approvers.
So we are analyzing if we could use Jira Service Desk to implement that requirement.
It's possible to use a user customfield = Departament Approval Group (List of Jira Groups) to assign to the approval user of a task on the workflow?

Yes, you can use a custom field (user picker) in Service Desk to select the approver of issues. In the custom field configuration, you'll have to add all the users that are members of the group of users that must be able to approve the requests.
In your workflow, you will have to edit the approval status selecting the custom field from which you want to get the approvers' list in 'Get approvers from'. As in the example below:

Hi David,
You can go to Issues>Custom fields and click on Add custom field. After it you can search for 'user picker', click Next, give the custom field a name and then select the screens.
