So I had asked earlier about this, but essentially what happened was I had imported issues over from a non-Service Project to a Service Project. When I did this, I thought I made sure to list the correct move-overs to the necessary fields, but for some reason the Description field came over as a separate description field.
Now, the catch is that, when I go to locate this Description field in the new Service Project, I cannot locate it. Any time that I go to create a new ticket, it creates a "Description" field on the ticket that is not present on the ticket itself anywhere, but it still creates it.
Any idea how to get this essentially "phantom" Description field removed?
Hi @Kyle McGee , is the Custom Field named "Description"? If you navigate to settings (cog in upper right) > Issues > custom fields can you locate the field? It should be there and you should be able to delete it there. One thing to consider before deleting is what to do with the data that may exist in the field for any issues. Do you care to save? if so then I would create a manual automation rule that would copy the data from the custom build into some other field.
So I can locate a field titled "Description", but I have removed it from the Screen and it still is creating it on new tickets?

I assume that you are not confusing the system description field with the apparent custom field entitled the same? When you say you were moved it from the screen where exactly did you do this? I have to wonder if you remove the system description field from the create screen. It would help to have some screenshots of exactly what you are saying and attempting to do. In any case did you navigate to the custom field administration section and find your custom field?

Here is a screen shot of what I am talking about. I did navigate to the custom field administration section and I could not find the Description field listed above. Additionally, when I go to create a new ticket, the Description field above is not on any of the tickets I try to create. However, when I create the ticket, it populates the non-editable Description Field displayed above.
I went to Screen Configuration and could not find anywhere where the Description field would be listed on any of the ticket types I have, but it seems to be creating a Description field still.

None of the Service screen types I have have the Description field as an option, so I guess I am confused why it keeps auto-populating if there is not that field on the ticket itself?

Additionally, I had imported my issues from another board, the Description Field seems to have come in from the previous board that I had created.

To be clear you are not talking about the system default Description field? It isn't clear from the above images but I have to wonder if indeed this is the System default. That field really should be left as part of the create screen or at least the view an edit screens so that more details can be provided be on the Summary field. Indeed the system default fields will not be shown in the Custom fields area. So my conclusion is that there is not a custom field titled "Description".

Thank you, I was able to figure it out I think. Sorry for any of the confusion, appreciate it :)
