I am trying to bulk import issues from a tool that creates them and I need to add custom fields so that I can make different stories. I can't seem to find a way to do that. The documents available do not showcase the same options that I have in my Jira Software as my admin drop menu does not have the specific options.
@Fariha Razayou need to have the values in custom fields on Jira to make a bulk change.
You can use Edit multiple issues at the same time or import in your jira values of a custom field using the Importing data from CSV
It might help you first map the values into the jira.
I tried importing data from CSV first but since I have custom fields it doesn't recognize them. I am trying to figure out how to add them. How would I go about mapping the custom values in Jira? I cannot find the option to do so.

The custom fields only appear in the mapping config is there is either a global context or a context for the chosen project

What version of Jira Server are you using? Are the documents you are referencing for Jira Server and for the version you are using?
Are you importing the issues using the External System Import option available to Jira Admins, or are you importing issues from the option available on the Search Issues screen?
I have Jira Cloud, though I worked on Jira Server v7.13 a few years back. If you are a Jira Admin, then to create a custom field you would need to go to the Setting menu (the gear icon) and select Issues. In the new screen navigation pane you would then select Custom Fields. The custom field would need to be created and added to the Field Configuration(s) used by the project to which you are importing the issues. If you want to be able to see/modify those fields after the issues have been imported, they will also have to be added to the screens for the different issue types in the destination project. By default custom fields will have a global context and you should not modify this unless you need to
- have different values available for list type fields per project
- want to restrict the issue types that can use the field.

Thank you! I figured out that I need higher admin status even though I am an admin of the current project.
