Data Retention

mike.diaz October 27, 2021

We have a large amount of data attached to tickets (files, diagrams, etc.) which we would want to have access to after the ticket is closed.  How long does Jira Service Management retain the data in these tickets for an active account?

How about for an inactive account?

Is there a backup solution which can be used to back up attached files within tickets?

Thank you!

Mike, you can create PDF snapshots of a ticket (or of many tickets) then store those PDF files on a storage that you control - as long term archiving solution. The PDF documents can capture all ticket details and can also embed the original ticket attachments!

With the Better PDF Exporter app it looks like this:

This is great!  I will give this a try.  What is Atlassian's default retention policy for tickets and attachments while accounts are active?

I'd believe that if you are paying customer, they will not delete any part of your information.
