If you click on a column header it will sort by that column, either ascending or descending.
I'm not aware of a way to change the default sort. I took a quick look on Atlassian's Jira site (jira.atlassian.com) and didn't see any suggestions, but I may have missed them. Feel free to search yourself.
Hope that helps.
@Dan Breyen If you click on a column header it will sort by that column, either ascending or descending. - It doesn't work in this case :)

I found this ticket on Atlassian's Jira site (jira.atlassian.com): JSDSERVER-4326 that mentions it's available in the 5.3 release.
You don't mention what version of JSM Server you are using, If you aren't current, you may want to look into upgrading. If you are current, you might need to contact support for clarification on this ticket. (support.atlassian.com/contact)
