Hello,
We are trying to migrate data from https://bmsweb.atlassian.net to another JIRA version hosted in our AWS Ver 7.8 URL: https://jira.web.bms.com
We are trying to consolidate multiple JIRA instances into one instance at the enterprise level. Currently our Instance has 300+ projects and lots of valuable data including 300K issues and attachments. What is the best recommended solution or easy available solution to do the migration? Has anyone else tried this before and been successful? Please confirm the recommended solution from Atlassian at the earliest.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ramya
Hi @Ramya Sivakumar and welcome to our Community!
Please, take a look at the following article:
Migrating from Jira Cloud to Server
Hope it helps.
Hi Ramya,
the migration article is useful only for migration - i.e. if the AWS server is empty. Consolidation of multiple servers is quite more involved and it is probably the most complex thing anyone can do with Atlassian servers.
There are two general approaches
I hope this helps.
Cheers,

If your https://jira.web.bms.com instance contains data, you will need to migrate Projects individually. This is messy business, unfortunately. The high level steps look like this:
You can either use the native Jira Project Import function or use a 3rd party App like Botron's Configuration Manager to move the Projects over.
We do a lot of these type of migrations and they are not easy, they are tedious, time consuming and often do not have a high amount of value to the business. Another option would be to "sunset" your current Cloud instance where your users don't open new issues on the Cloud instance, but continue to work on open issues until all are done.
I hope that helps.

Thanks Dave for the response, this helps, yes in general we are hearing that this is a tedious process and there is no easy or straightforward solution as we have in one instance lots of customizations made, and the other instance already have existing data, which is adding complexity in the migration process.

Ramya
