How to import crv with a user

Rudie Klein August 19, 2024

I have made an export in asset management. If i want to import the user stays empty.

i have tried to put in various labels as my field filled with the user name is called "Gebruiker"

Label, Name, User, Users etc. won't work.

How to proceed?1.JPG

Hi Rudie,

Try using the email address of the user in Jira.

I just now realized this works already, sadly there was no update in the doc or JAC ticket reflecting this.
However, ID should definitely work too. Since this doesn't work for @Rudie Klein , I think something else might be off too?

Yeah, sounds like there is definitely something else going on.

Hey @Rudie Klein ,

Welkom op de community! :)

Let's see, it seems to me that your attribute "Gebruiker" is an object attribute (it references a different existing object?)

It completely depends on what is in your CSV.. Is it the name? the object key?
Check your CSV and look what information is in the "Gebruiker" column, you will need to use the matching attribute in your AQL.

You can find a little more info here, if you can't get it to work, please share s screenshot of the CSV column and matching object already in Assets so we can help debug!

Hey @Rudie Klein ,

I now see that the "Gebruiker" attribute is not another referenced object, but a jira user type attribute.

For that, you don't need the AQL field at all, but you can only import jira users into assets with their Atlassian ID or customer ID.
You can find the information about this here.
The article outlines how to get those ID's if you need them, even in bulk.

You can vote for a change in this behaviour (allowing displayname or mail address to import) here

You mentioned that you were working with a CSV export, if so, you probably checked "user friendly". This is a better human readable export, that (for example) shows the displayname of the user.
If you want to use an export to create a new import, use the "data consistent" option, this will get you the (unreadable for us but good for import) user ID's in the CSV.

Hope this helps!

The Account ID doesn't work either.

Hey Rudie,

just did a quick test with exporting and importing the same object with a user in it.
Worked just fine.

Please try the following steps:

  • Can you manually enter the user in the attribute?
  • Did you remove the AQL from you import mapping? It shouldn't be there
  • Did you work from an export from assets or did you get the ID in the user management? If so, please check that you copied it correctly.
  • Is it a single value / multiple value field?

Please let us know where it goes wrong so we can help. Importing with account ID should be very straightforward, so we might be missing something else.

It worked, i had to reselect the export file in order to get it to use the correct data.

It only works with de Atlassian ID.

thanks for the help.

hi @Rudie Klein ,

indeed, you have to re-select the file, there is no sync in place if yu edit it locally.
Great that your import works now, please remember to accept helpfull answers. This way, users with the same problem searching for a solution can find it faster.

Een hele fijne dag gewenst!
