We are planning on using G Suite to sync users into JSM and using Insights for Asset Management. What I am struggling with is how do I link an Employee Object to an actual Jira User that is syncing with G Suite. I am unable to find how I can link the Employee object to an Atlassian account (Jira User). I don't want to manually manage users in the Employee Object, ideally would like to have it sync with the users automatically.
Or is there a way to link an Asset directly to Jira User without having to create an Employee object?
Create an attribute of the type User, that will link the field Atlassian accounts. See my answers in this thread, https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Service-Management/How-do-i-import-all-the-users-from-Atlassian-Access-into-Insight/qaq-p/1840277
Thanks! A follow-up question am I able to add other attributes like email to the object?

Yes, and no. You can add an attribute for email, but it cannot be linked to the Atlassian account. In that case you would have import your users as objects in Insight, link it to the Atlassian account then then on the asset link the User attribute to the object in Insight.

Hi @jigarpatel
Did you manage to get this to work Im stuck on how to map the the CSV import to the "User" object. Im using this in the AQL
AtlassianUser=${DisplayName}
I have tried all the combinations I can think of but can seem to get it to match.
I can manually set them when I edit the object.

No, we stopped using it; it lacked features and honestly was too complicated to do simple things.

FYI: I have found a way to do it here https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/update-user-type-attribute-of-an-insight-objects-using-automation-after-import-1141505554.html

@cbaker Thanks for posting I was trying to figure this out and get it to sync from our IDP during imports. REST is where its at.

How about HR: Employee User Profile?
In this case, you'll be able to create any category and user (Employee attributes) - how to do it - looks here
According to your request: " ideally would like to have it sync with the users automatically"
It's possible to transfer all selected Jira Users to the Employee User Profile base in a few clicks with help of Auto-Import - how does it work (link)
