I want to automate to pre-populate an issue field at create

I would like to use automation to pre-populate fields in an issue when it is created. That is when the user selects the issue type, prior to displaying the field can be prepopulated. I can use the "Create' trigger, but that seems to only be triggered when the user "Saves" a newly created issue and I do not want to populate fields at that time.

You can utilise sciptrunner behavior on create screen for prepopulating field values.

Hi @Ken Parry , are you saying that you want to pre-populate fields in the Create screen during the create process based upon user selection? If so you will need to consider an addon app. As you likely know, you can have field config schemes and associate to issue types and you could have default values for various custom fields. But I don't thing that aligns with your ask.

Thanks Yes  I want a trigger that works when the user selects a specific issue type in the Create Issue screen.
