Is it possible to receive notifications based on the time an issue is due?

Is there a way to be reminded of a certain task or issue before or after and issue is due? The reminder would be time induced not action induced.  Hoping this will help employees stay on top of tasks and not need to be reminded.

Automation rules are only available if you are using JIRA Service Desk. If you are using Jira Core or Jira Software one option would be to use filters and subscriptions, see Working with search results

Mikeal,

Thank you for adding this option, its a great solution. I am still learning how to do this too. Would the steps be something like:

  1. Create a saved search which looks for project and SLA time - something like this? Project = "Project Name" AND "Time to resolution" <= remaining("20h")
  2. Run and Save that search. (Mikael, Do I have the search string correct above?)
  3. Click Details next to search name
  4. Click New Subscription
  5. Then just add the parameters I wanted?

And thus if the search met those parameters it would send an email notification to either users or a group of users.

Hello Francesca,

One way to do this is to add an automation rule. You can find "Automation Rule" on the left-hand (Dark Blue) navigation menu within the project you wish to set the alert for. Note this will only set the SLA alert for issues coming from that project - not all projects.
