Dear All , I want to use Jira for our external customer support. I need to customize the fields the workflows.... My question is that is there a way that I can save a certain project as a template so that whenever I wanna create a new project for a new customer I can use the same template without the need to repeat all these customizations again ?
thanks for your help
Hello @Alaa shamas,
When you create a new project, there is a native feature called "Create with shared configuration". The new project will be created with the same schemes as the original project.
It will reuse the following schemes:
If you want to copy a Jira Service Desk project, please note that create a project with shared configuration won't copy SLAs and request types - you'd need to use an add-on like the one mentioned above by @Fede Baronti -Deiser-.
Hope this helps,
- Manon
Hi Manon,
thank you for your support , actually I did the above and as you mentioned the SLAs as well as the request types were not copied that's why am searching for a better way.
I will Fede suggestion , thanks a lot.

Hi All, assume that I used the Shared configuration feature to create a project from an already existing project , the SLAs and the Request types will not be copied as mentioned by Pascal, is there a way to write a script so that I can run it to create the needed request types and SLAs.
What am trying to do is to make the process of creating projects as simple as It can be for the employees, I don't want them to go through the hustle of defining Request types and SLAs , this should be a standard that they cannot change.
can this be done in a way or another ?

There is a new feature request that seems to be gathering momentum, even though it is very old. You can review it here:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-7020
If enough people vote for it Atlassian may decide to finally implement it.

I'm really sorry Alaa,
Just by looking at the screenshots I realized you were talking about Cloud. I was talking about cloud too, but thinking about Server. My mistake.
Unfortunately, Profields for cloud does not support the System fields. Exactly as what you were saying.
Again, really sorry for the inconveniences.
Cheers,
Fede

Hi Fede , i subscribed in the free trail of Profields to check it, i created custom fields and layout , however in the layout of Profields am not being able to add the already existing system fields of Jira (Name , URL , Project Category..). Is this normal ? in this case i will be losing the system fields
thanks for your advise

Hi @Alaa shama,
It's really strange that you cannot add them. They should be available and selectable in order to add them to the layouts.
Please, follow these simple steps in order see if you can have access to them:
1. Go the Profields > Layouts.
2. Once in there, choose a Layout to edit, see attachment for more reference.
3. Once there, choose 'Add field' and scroll down until you see the options with a lock (those are the JIRA system Fields, see attachment).
Hope that you can find the System fields without a problem.
Cheers,
Fede.

Hi,
Also, we have a confluence page where you can answer some questions that you might have. Right here: https://confluence.deiser.com/display/PROFCLOUDDOC/Documentation+Center
Don't hesitate in asking anything else.

Fede

Am exactly following the correct steps , however when am adding a field to the row in a layout the dropdown reflect to me only the fields that i have added from Profiled and the original system fields are not displayed (am using the free trail of Cloud)

Having a trial version shouldn't matter.
Could you please send me a screenshot? It might help.
Cheers,
Fede.

Hi, Have a look on Gaia for Jira. http://gaiaproject.nuumsolutions.com
It let you create a Project template, defining your scheme and a list of Issue and Confluence page to create (compatible with Macro).
When you define a Project Template, you have access to Gaia Software and Gaia Business on "Create Project Screen". After you could select one of your project template to create your project.
You have the option to reuse shared Scheme or to Duplicate them.

Hi Alaa,
I'm sorry to say that there is no Project configurator for Cloud instances. Sorry about that. Didn't know you where in the cloud.
But there is Cloud version for Profields, you just need to open the drop-down menu and select Cloud. I attached a screenshot for more info.

Hi Alaa,
There is an add-on that would meet those requirements in the Atlassian Marketplace, it's name is 'Project configurator', you can find it right here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.awnaba.projectconfigurator.projectconfigurator/server/overview
You can also configure Project fields with this other Add-on, which is called Profields: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.deiser.jira.profields/server/overview
All the best,
Fede.
